Patients have the opportunity to improve their local practice
17 December 2009

Three GP Practices across Brent, The GP Unit at Wembley Centre for Health & Care, The Burnley Practice at Willesden Centre for Health & Care and Sudbury Primary Care Centre are currently run by Brent Community Services, who are part of NHS Brent.  Brent Community Services also delivers Community services such as District Nursing and physiotherapy services, supporting GP Practices.

Brent Community Services has decided that it would rather focus on delivering its community services such as those listed above than delivering GP Practice services, and has therefore asked NHS Brent to find alternative providers for the three GP Practices. This means that in the future NHS Brent will have a contract with a provider to deliver the services in your practice.

There are 68 other GP Practices in Brent and each of those practices is already delivered in this way. In order to provide the best GP services at your practice, NHS Brent will invite the best providers of health care to work and deliver services in Brent.

If you are a patient at one of these practices, then your views on your GP services at your local practice are very important and there will be an ongoing opportunity for people to be involved in selecting the best providers.  Patients can be involved by completing questionnaires, and sharing their views to NHS staff at their local practices.

There is an opportunity to share your views online.  NHS Brent will also be arranging Information Days at the three practices in early January 2010.  We hope to involve patients throughout the process in choosing a new provider for your practice by ensuring patient representatives are also actively involved throughout the provider selection procedure.
