NHS Contitution - Consultation

11 January 2010 to 4 April 2010
Better Services for Local Children

NHS Brent, along with The North West London Hospitals NHS Trust and NHS Harrow, has begun a 12-week public consultation that sets out a proposal to improve the way the NHS provides hospital services for children in Brent and Harrow.

You can have your say by:

  • Writing to: Better services for local children, Communications Department, Northwick Park Hospital, Watford Road, Harrow HA1 3UJ
  • Going online to www.brentharrowchildren.nhs.uk
  • Filling in the tear-off response form in the document.

Formal responses need to be returned by 4 April 2010.

The consultation document is being distributed to GPs, local organisations and children’s centres.  If you would like a hard copy or hard copies of the consultation document, please contact children@nwlh.nhs.uk or please download it and print it off the website at www.brentharrowchildren.nhs.uk

NHS Constitution – Consultation

The NHS Constitution brought together in one place what the NHS does, what it stands for and the commitments it should live up to. It describes and renews our commitment to the values and enduring principles of the NHS. It is also a living document that needs to reflect what matters and is relevant to the needs of patients, the public and staff in the 21st century.

People are being asked what they think about the inclusion of two new rights in the NHS Constitution, as well as some potential changes in the future, and the introduction of a new role of Constitution champion.

This consultation proposes new patient rights to:

  • Treatment within a maximum of 18 weeks from a GP referral and to be seen by a cancer specialist within 2 weeks from a GP referral, or where this is not possible, for the NHS to take reasonable steps to offer a range of alternative providers; and

  • NHS Health Checks for those aged 40 to 74 to assess their risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease

It also welcomes views on areas where we believe we will soon be able to offer rights, such as dentistry, evening and weekend access to GPs, personal health budgets, the ability to choose to die at home and rapid access to diagnostic tests.
