Mixed Sex Accomodation
Mixed Sex Accommodation Action Plan
The NHS Chief Executive, David Nicholson has made a commitment to reduce mix sex accommodation a core priority for the NHS for the coming year. Primary care Trusts are now expected to ensure that the goal to reduce mixed sex accommodation is implemented locally.
This information is gathered from within the National Patient Survey that elicits patient’s perception on privacy and dignity during their stay in hospital.
Our local acute hospital (North West London Hospitals NHS Trust) reported that in 2007 30% of patients stated they shared mixed sex accommodation during their stay in hospital, the London Average was 26% and England Average 24%.
NHS Brent is committed to working collaboratively with the Trust to develop and monitor an action plan that clearly lays out the steps needed to make improvements towards the current performance.
