Women’s Health Physiotherapy Service

Service Description
Provide physiotherapy service for assessment, advice and treatment of continence as well as pregnancy-related musculoskeletal conditions at Willesden Community Hospital and Wembley Centre for Health & Care.

Referral Criteria
· Patients from Brent PCT
· Female patients over the age of 18
· Referrals accepted from the Continence Advisor, GP or consultant.
· Patient should be able to come to the department.

Referral Process

Continence referrals:
Patients identified with continence problems should be referred to the single point of access:

Patients can self refer and do not require a GP referral.
The Continence Advisor will do the initial assessment and will refer on to the Women’s Health Physiotherapist where appropriate.

Musculoskeletal referrals:
Referrals to be send to the Women’s Health Physiotherapy service at Willesden Community Hospital. All referrals are prioritised. Appointments are made by phone, except for those who are not on the phone who are sent a letter inviting them to call to book an appointment.

Standards
· Offer choice of specialist treatment between two locations within the service location.
·All acute conditions are seen within 10 working days, sub-acute and routine conditions are seen within 3-4 weeks.
· Offer choice of appointments within working hours.
