Action Plan: Safeguarding Children Compliance for NHS Brent and Brent Community Services

NHS Brent/Brent Community Services Health Safeguarding Children Team (Child Protection) works closely with all health care professionals and in partnership with key agencies including Education, Children’s Social Care, Police, Probation and Voluntary Agencies. They are members of Brent Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) and its subcommittees.

NHS Brent/Brent Community Services Health Safeguarding Children Team (Child Protection) comprises:

  • Designated Nurse for Safeguarding/Child Protection
  • Interim Designated Doctor for Safeguarding/Child Protection (Lead Paediatrician for Child Death)
  • General Practitioner with specialist interest in child protection
  • Named Nurse Safeguarding Children
  • Safeguarding Children Advisors
  • Paediatric Liaison Nurse 
  • Safeguarding Children Administrator
  • Child Death Overview Co-ordinator (fixed term post)

The Health Safeguarding Children Team ensures that national legislation, guidance and local policies and procedures are implemented and followed to safeguard children and young people and their families in Brent. The team provides consultation, support, advice, child protection supervision and training/learning/development programmes for NHS Brent employees; team members also contribute to LSCB interagency and external courses.The designated professionals for child protection are members of Brent Local Safeguarding Children Board and are represented on London Safeguarding Children subgroups.

If you are worried about the safety of a child please contact the Safeguarding Children Team, Brent Social Care or, in an emergency, the police. Alternatively you can telephone or e-mail the NSPCC Child Protection Helpline for free 24-hour advice. Members of the public can make calls anonymously.
